New Creates History by Becoming the First Team to White Wash India in a Test on Home Soil

New Zealand made history in Mumbai on Sunday as they became the first team to whitewash India 3-0 in a Test series on Indian soil. Leading 2-0, Tom Latham’s side sealed the final Test inside three days, defeating India by 25 runs. Ajaz Patel was the standout performer with a match haul of 11 wickets for 160 runs, dismantling India’s batting line-up.

India had a promising start on day three by bowling New Zealand out for 174, thanks to RavindraJadeja's five-wicket haul. Needing just 147 runs for a consolation win, the home team crumbled under pressure as Patel, who had already taken five wickets in the first innings, picked up six more to finish with an 11-wicket haul.

Rishabh Pant fought back with a valiant 64, but his dismissal after lunch left India with little hope. The Kiwi spinners, led by Patel, wrapped up the game soon after.

New Zealand had earlier broken India’s 12-year unbeaten streak at home, winning the first two Tests in Bengaluru and Pune. This series victory is New Zealand’s first in India since their debut tour in 1955-56. India’s captain Rohit Sharma admitted his disappointment in both his leadership and batting, highlighting the team’s collective failure.
