Pakistan end 7-year wait for an ODI win in Australia by beating Australia by 9 wickets

Pakistan achieved a historic 9-wicket victory over Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval on November 8, leveling the three-match series. After opting to bowl first, Pakistan’s fast bowlers Haris Rauf and ShaheenAfridi dismantled the Australian batting lineup, with Rauf claiming 5 wickets for 29 runs and Afridi taking 3 for 26. Australia was bowled out for just 163 runs in 35 overs.

In response, Pakistan chased down the target comfortably in 26.3 overs, led by a stunning performance from SaimAyub, who scored 82 runs off 71 balls. The 22-year-old opener initially played cautiously but accelerated after hitting a six off Pat Cummins in the 11th over. He reached his half-century off just 52 balls and continued to dominate the Australian bowlers, including Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

Abdullah Shafique supported Ayub with a solid innings of 64 not out, and Babar Azam finished the match with a six, ensuring Pakistan’s victory with over 23 overs to spare.
