After the disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup group stage, the Pakistan cricket board wasted no time in preparing the red-ball team for upcoming challenges. To get the team ready for brutal red-ball cricket, Pakistan Test Team coach Jason Gillespie will attend the Karachi camp of ‘Pakistan A’ and will also accompany them on the tour of Darwin.
In Karachi, starting June 24th and running until July 7th, a 25-player squad will start with a pre-season fitness and fielding camp at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre.
Following the pre-season camp, a select group of 15 players will transition into the Pakistan Shaheens (Pakistan A) training camp from July 8th to 13th. This camp serves as preparation for their upcoming tour to Darwin, Australia.
The Pakistan Shaheens’ Darwin tour itinerary is packed with competitive cricket. They will play two four-day matches against Bangladesh A, two 50-over matches against both Northern Territory and Bangladesh A, and participate in the nine-team Top End T20 Series.
Jason Gillespie, who is the red-ball head coach of Pakistan, will play a crucial role in these preparations. He will supervise the Pakistan Shaheens training camp in Karachi and travel with the team to Darwin as head coach for the four-day matches.
He will return to Pakistan after the second four-day match to focus on the national side’s training for the upcoming two-test series against Bangladesh.
