Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is keen to host the Pakistan vs England Test series ta home. But ahead of the that, there are major concerns regarding the venues which has greatly frustrated the PCB chief. While the three venues for the ICC Champions Trophy are undergoing renovation, the construction works at the venues as created a dicey situation for Pakistan to host the Test series at home.
The two sides are slated to play a three match Test series at home which kick starts from 7th October. Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi are the three venues sorted for the series, and with constructions of the ICC Champions Trophy going on, PCB faces a race against time to get the venues prepared for the upcoming Test series.
As per the statement of the source, “With less than a month remaining for the first Test, the international department is yet to even decide where the first match would be held.”
“The Chairman has made it clear that relocating the series would damage the image of the PCB, and Rawalpindi and Multan should be used as the venues for the three-match series,” he said.
The insider also said, “The Chairman is not happy because the more the announcement of venues and itinerary is delayed the more it affects the board’s revenue generation opportunities from the three matches.”
