Premium batsman of Team India Virat Kohli overtakes Sachin Tendulkar to become the leading run scorer for Team India in the White Ball Tournament

During the ICC 2023 World Cup thrilling match between India and Australia Cricket Team at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, Virat Kohli etched his name in the annals of cricket history. The former captain of Team India achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the highest runs scored by an Indian in ICC white-ball tournaments.

As India faced a daunting run chase, Kohli remained determined to lead his team to victory following a challenging start to their World Cup campaign. Throughout his innings, Kohli not only displayed his masterful batting skills but also overtook Tendulkar’s long-standing record in ICC tournaments.

Tendulkar had amassed a total of 2719 runs in 58 innings in ICC white-ball tournaments for India. Kohli’s remarkable feat came in just 64 innings, underscoring his consistency and prowess as a run-scorer on the global stage. Besides Tendulkar and Kohli, the current Indian captain Rohit Sharma is the only other player to breach the 2000-run mark in ICC tournaments while representing Team India.
