By taking the wiclet ofNajmul Hossain Shanto in the 2nd Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, Ashwin surpassed the record of Anil Kumble of 419 wickets in Asia, establishing himself as India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the continent.
Ashwin has played a key role in the success of team IndiaIndia over the years, has now taken 420 wickets in Asia. This achievement further cements Ashwin’s legacy as one of India’s greatest spinners.
Shanto, who was looking solid with 31 off 57 balls, fell victim to Ashwin’s crafty delivery that drifted in from around the wicket. The batter misjudged the line, and the ball crashed into the middle stump after being reviewed.
