Rishabh Pant or Nicholas Pooran expected to lead in IPL 2025 as LSG to announce captain on Jan 20
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will officially announce their captain for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on January 20, during a special press conference led by founder and chairman Sanjiv Goenka in Kolkata. Following the decision to release KL Rahul, LSG initially had limited captaincy candidates. However, after acquiring Rishabh Pant for a record ₹27 crore, they now have two primary options: Pant and Nicholas Pooran, with Aiden Markram also in contention.
Pant's leadership experience with Delhi Capitals, where he captained for three seasons, positions him as the frontrunner. His past success suggests he could seamlessly take over from Rahul, especially given the substantial investment LSG made in him. Pooran remains a viable option but may not align with LSG's strategy of investing heavily in a single player without appointing him as captain.
