Rishabh Pant started the season on a disappointing note. Returning to cricket after 14 months, the swashbuckling wicketkeeper batter has to walk back in disappointment in the PBKS vs. DC match. Having been gifted an early life by Harshal Patel, who dropped a straight-forward catch at deep square leg, Pant failed to convert it into a big score.
Eight deliveries after getting a reprieve on his comeback, Rishabh Pant handed Jonny Bairstow an easy catch at backward point. Trying to drag a short ball outside off to the leg side, he was deceived by the slower ball from Harshal Patel. The fast-bowler who dropped him in the precious over had the last laugh as Pant failed to get the ball across the 30-yard circle and departed for just 18 of 13 balls.
Watch it here.
Despite not scoring big runs, Pant looked like he had before his accident. His movement against the spinners, in particular, was great. He came down the track a few times and went for his trademark shots as well. Scoring just 18 runs might not have been what he wanted, but from a future perspective, it bodes well.
