Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Gujarat Giants by 8 wickets.

In the 2024 Women’s Premier League season, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Gujarat Giants at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. Despite the defeats, the Gujarat Giants remain confident in their ability to bounce back and make an impact in the tournament.
Batting first after being put in to bat by SmritiMandhana, the Giants faced early setbacks with the quick dismissals of their captains Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield. Although HarleenDeol put up some resistance, the Gujarat Giants struggled to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. However, the contribution of 31 of Dayalan Hemalatha's was a positive highlight. RCB's Sophie Molineux and Renuka Thakur impressed with the ball, taking key wickets.
In response, the captain of RCB, SmritiMandhana, led from the front, giving a strong start to her team. Despite losing the wicket of Sophie Devine, they remained in control, with Mandhana delivering a stellar performance and achieving her highest WPL score. Although TanujaKanwer dismissed Mandhana, the damage had been done, and RCB secured victory with eight wickets in hand. Gujarat Giants alumnus SabbhineniMeghana followed up her half-century in the first match with an unbeaten 36 in this game.
It is a disappointing loss for the Gujarat Giants, but they are determined to show improvement in our upcoming matches. In the next game, the Gujarat Giants are going to play against the UP Warriors on Friday at the same venue.
