Sanath Jayasuriya Contract got extended for one year by Sri Lanka Cricket Board

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has officially extended Sanath Jayasuriya’s contract as interim head coach for another year. This decision follows his positive impact on the team since taking charge after Chris Silverwood stepped down post the 2024 T20 World Cup. Despite a difficult start, including a 0-3 series loss to India, Jayasuriya’s leadership has seen the team bounce back, culminating in a notable ODI series victory against India.

Under his guidance, Sri Lanka cricket team has recently achieved a historic Test series win against New Zealand, their first in 15 years. This success has increased the confidence within the squad, as they aim to build on this momentum moving forward. Now the focus of Jayasuriya will shift to enhancing the performance of team in upcoming international matches, including a challenging tour of England.
