Sanjay Manjrekar Roasts RCB Great says, “Played For Wrong Franchise”

AB de Villiers, one of cricket’s all-time greats, has left an indelible mark on the sport, terrorizing bowlers across formats. Despite his illustrious career, he retired without winning an IPL title, having played for Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). His performances in the IPL were remarkable, scoring 5,162 runs, including two centuries and 37 fifties.

In a recent discussion, former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar made a bold claim, suggesting that Suryakumar Yadav has surpassed de Villiers in terms of match-winning impact in T20 cricket. Manjrekar argued that de Villiers was not utilized effectively at RCB and implied that had he played for a different franchise, his true potential would have been realized.

De Villiers is renowned for his explosive batting style and innovative shots, holding records for the fastest ODI fifty, hundred, and 150. His exceptional skills earned him accolades as a three-time ICC ODI Player of the Year. As comparisons with modern players like Yadav continue, de Villiers’ legacy remains influential in the world of cricket.
