Sanju Manjrekar says, KL Rahul should open, Rohit Sharma at No.3 for Day 5 in MCG Test

Sanjay Manjrekar has suggested that India should consider sending KL Rahul back to open the batting in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia, with Rohit Sharma dropping to No. 3. Manjrekar pointed out Rohit’s struggles, as he has only scored 22 runs in four innings at an average of 5.50, entering double digits just once.

Manjrekar emphasized the importance of a strong opening partnership, stating, “With the kind of form Rohit has been in, Rahul at the top restores more confidence.” At stumps on Day 4, Australia led by 333 runs, putting pressure on India’s openers to provide a solid start.
