Speaking to Star Sports India, the official broadcasters of the CWC 2023 and former World Cup winner for Australia, Shane Watson, opined that giving the new ball to Shami instead of Siraj was not the right decision made by India captain Rohit Sharma.
After the finals in Ahmedabad, Watson said, “I don’t understand why Mohammed Siraj, who has done well with the new ball, didn’t start the proceedings. This is the only area where they made a mistake. Shami was all over the place.”
He also said, “If you don’t use Siraj with the new ball, you take him out of the game. It's ridiculous that he didn’t bowl with the new ball today. Didn’t bowl 2023, new ball specialist," Warner stated last week that he would not accept a CA contract in 2024-25, but would be available for next year's T20 World Cup in the United States and Caribbean, as well as the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan in 2025.
