Shashank Singh wants to get a feel for playing under India skipper Rohit Sharma

The batter of the Punjab Kings, Shashank Singh, has expressed interest in playing under the captaincy of veteran Rohit Sharma. In an exclusive interview, Singh admitted that he had heard from teammates, including Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, and Shreyas Iyer, about how it was a boon to play under the Hitman. He added that he wanted to experience what it felt like to be a part of a side led by Rohit.
Shashank said, “I have heard that Rohit Sharma is one of the best captains to play under. Players like Surya, Dube, Rinku, and Shreyas are always praising Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. They say that Rohit Bhai gives you full freedom and full support. So I want to see how it feels to play under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.”
On not being selected for the Zimbabwe series, he said, I am not at all disappointed. I’ve stopped expecting things from myself or anyone else. But it helped me know how much harder I have to work in the future to get there. My bowling, fielding, and fitness are a few things I have to work on. I get a reality check as well when these squads get announced—that I have to work so much if I have to compete with the best. When you see the squad, all the players deserve their place thoroughly. Players like Nitish and Riyan have done exceedingly well in the domestic circuit and the IPL. I know that I’m somewhere near, but it’ll take some time for me to get noticed. In a good way, I’ll work even harder and make sure that I get recognized more during the selection meeting.
