India Cricket Team star batter Shreyas Iyer is keen on making a mark in the upcoming IND vs. ENG Test series. After not being a part of the IND vs. AFG T20I series, Iyer was asked to prepare for red-ball cricket. Iyer went on to play the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, where he scored 48 runs in a run-a-ball against Andhra Pradesh.
Now his focus shifts to the upcoming mega series against England. Not just him; Iyer has quite a few competitors in the middle order, with the biggest being KL Rahul. Iyer has claimed that he enjoys the challenge and the competition as he thrives under such conditions.
KL Rahul is said to be used in the IND vs. ENG Test series as a specialist batter only. As a result, KS Bharat is likely to stay while Dhruv Jurel remains as a backup. With another specialist batter in the middle in the form of KL Rahul, it means added competition for Shreyas Iyer.
Iyer said, “Its fun. I love competition, and when competition is there, you face more challenges. And that’s what I thrive on personally. So I enjoy having competition around because then you can go at each other and also against the opponents to show your talent and skills."
Shreyas Iyer has been in lukewarm form in the Test series against the Proteas. The 48-run knock in the Ranji Trophy will surely be a big boost to his confidence.
