The opening batsman of Indian cricket team Shubman Gill is feeling better and has not been ruled out of India’s opening match in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, according to head coach Rahul Dravid. India is ready to take on five-time world champion Australia at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, October 8.
Speaking on the fitness of Gill Head Coach of Team India, Rahul Dravid, said the medical team is monitoring Gill’s health, insisting that he has not been ruled out of the Australia game.
Dravid said, “The medical team is monitoring on a daily basis. We have 36 hours; we’ll see what decision they make. He’s certainly feeling better today. The medical team hasn’t ruled him out yet. We’ll keep monitoring him on a day-to-day basis. We’ll see how he feels the day after tomorrow.”
Gill has had an exceptional year in ODI cricket in 2023. He has scored a remarkable 1230 runs in just 20 ODIs, making him the leading run-scorer in this format for the year. His average stands at an impressive 72.35, with a strike rate of 105.03.
