Smriti Mandhana believes Rajat Patidar will receive significant support from Virat Kohli, a legend of the game, after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) named Patidar as their new captain for IPL 2025. The announcement, made in Bengaluru on Thursday (February 13), was accompanied by a strong message of support from former captain Virat Kohli. Kohli has also asked fans to support Rajat Patidar as the new RCB Captain.
RCB head coach Andy Flower echoed this sentiment, noting that he has a lot of respect for Virat Kohli and the way he interacts with the team and supports Rajat Patidar.
Rajat Patidar's appointment marks a new chapter for RCB. Patidar has played 27 career matches, scoring 799 runs with a high score of 112*. In the 2024 season, he scored 395 runs in 15 matches.
The RCB's final squad for IPL 2025 includes Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and other notable players. The team has had a number of captains in the past, including Rahul Dravid, Kevin Pietersen, Anil Kumble, Daniel Vettori, Virat Kohli, Shane Watson, and Faf du Plessis.
