Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins insists his side plays with calculated aggression, not recklessness, as they prepare to face Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. Despite reaching last year’s IPL final, SRH has struggled this season, managing only two wins from eight matches. Speaking on JioHotstar’s “Gen Gold” series, Cummins expressed confidence in his team’s explosive batting, stating, “Our guys are well suited to striking at close to 200, so that’s what we always encourage.” He believes their line-up is packed with match-winners, adding, “All it takes is one, maybe two guys to play, and that could be match-winning for us.” Cummins highlighted the threat his batters pose, noting, “On their day they can score 100 runs in 30-odd balls.”
Despite inconsistent results, Cummins remains supportive, emphasizing the importance of backing players even when things don’t go their way. He praised young batter Aniket Verma, whose aggressive 74 against Delhi Capitals exemplified the team’s philosophy. “He would try to hit sixes and strikes beautifully, no matter the game situation,” Cummins said. The captain also stressed the value of SRH’s experienced bowlers, including Harshal Patel, Mohammad Shami, and Jaydev Unadkat, and the need for composure under pressure.
