On Tuesday, September 26, the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee announced the 15-member squad to take part in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which is going to be held in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023.
While the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has included the trio of Maheesh Theekshana, Dilshan Madushanka, and Lahiru Kumara, who were earlier left out of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament because of injuries, their ace all-rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga, will miss out on the ODI World Cup 2023 after having missed out on the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 with an injury that he sustained in the Lanka Premier League. It was also reported that Hasaranga had hurt his hamstring during his rehabilitation process, which further dashed any hopes of his return for the mega ODI event of the year.
