Star Pacer of India Jasprit Bumrah is set to be rested for the Ranchi Test
Jasprit Bumrah is now on break. The star pacer of the Indian cricket team, who was to be rested for the third Test of the ongoing England series, will now be allowed to skip the next Test match against England in Ranchi. Whether he will play the fifth and final Test match in Dharamsala is a decision for later and could depend on the outcome of the fourth Test match, which is going to start on February 23.
The Indian team will fly out of Rajkot on February 20, which is Tuesday, and Bumrah is unlikely to travel with the team. There is no information about any other player skipping the first test. The decision to rest Bumrah is part of workload management by the Indian team. Bumrah, the leading wicket-taker of the series, has already sent down 80.5 overs in the three games so far.
Mohammed Siraj was similarly rested for the second Test in Visakhapatnam. There is no immediate information as to whether the team management will seek a replacement player for Bumrah. Mukesh Kumar, who was released from the third Test so that he could take part in the Ranji game for his state, Bengal, is going to join the squad in Ranchi.
