Star Youngster of India Yashasvi Jaiswal leapfrogs Rohit Sharma For the career-best spot

The rise of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ICC Test Rankings continues as the young opener moved 3 spots higher to a career-best 12th in the latest batting chart, updated on Wednesday, February 28. He leapfrogged the captain of team India, Rohit Sharma, who has dropped to No. 13 in the rankings for men's Test batters.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was rewarded for his consistency in the Test series against England. The left-handed opener has scored 655 runs to lead the batting charts after the first four Tests of the 5-match series. Yashasvi, with two double hundreds, equalled Virat Kohli's record for the most runs in a bilateral series against England in Test cricket.
Virat Kohli is still the highest-ranked Indian Test batter, but the former captain dropped two spots to No. 9. Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests initially before pulling out of the entire series, taking paternity leave.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the star of the series, as the young opener seems to have translated his potential into match-winning ability for the senior national team.
