Sunil Gavaskar snubs Jasprit Bumrah as he picks India as a standout T20 World Cup performer

Batting Legend Sunil Gavaskar showered praise on the captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma, after he guided India to a T20 World Cup title last week. By doing so, captain Rohit Sharma joined the elite list of India captains to lift a world cup. He is only the third captain of Team India after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni to lift a World Cup trophy. The 37-year-old player also enjoyed a decent tournament with the bad, as he scored 257 runs in 8 matches at an average of 36.71. Although Virat Kohli was named the player of the match in the final, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took home the player of the tournament award.
On being asked to pick his standout performer of the tournament, Gavaskar suggested that although Bumrah deserves all praise, the captaincy of Rohit Sharma stood out according to him.
Gavaskar said, “There were several, if you have a look at what this team died; they were champions in every different field, so while there was a player of the tournament, Jasprit Bumrah, who absolutely totally deserved to be the player of the tournament, the main man running the show was Rohit Sharma, so the captaincy of Rohit is something that has to be admired because never once during tense situations did his body language go down.”
Gavaskar backed his claim by saying that the body language of Rohit Sharma throughout the tournament was ideal.
