Suryakumar Yadav knows he’s out of form With average of 5.60, says “thoda time lagega…”

Suryakumar Yadav’s form has become a growing concern despite his successful leadership in T20Is. Since taking over the captaincy in 2023, he has led India in 22 matches, winning 17 with a win percentage of 79.54%. However, his individual performance has declined since becoming captain.

As captain, Suryakumar has scored 558 runs in 22 matches, averaging 26.57, with one century and four half-centuries. This contrasts with his previous 2040 runs in 61 matches, where he averaged 43.40 with three centuries and 17 half-centuries. In the recent five-match T20I series against England, Suryakumar managed only 28 runs at an average of 5.60.

Wasim Jaffer believes that the pressure of captaincy and a limited shot selection are the reasons for Suryakumar Yadav’s batting struggles.Ravichandran Ashwin suggests that Suryakumar Yadav needs to change his batting approach. Despite acknowledging his poor form, Suryakumar remains focused on regaining his form. He is currently participating in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash against Haryana.
