As Gautam Gambhir and his team prepare for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, former Indian cricketer WV Raman has made a bold suggestion. Raman, who was a rival to Gambhir for the India coaching role during the selection process, has proposed an interesting addition to Gambhir’s coaching staff for the Australia tour. Noticing the struggles of many Indian batters with form and consistency, Raman has advised the BCCI to consider bringing in legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar as a batting consultant.
Raman believes that Tendulkar’s immense experience and expertise could be invaluable to Team India in their preparations for the challenging series against Australia. He emphasized that there is “enough time” between now and the second Test to make this happen. “I think Team India could benefit from having (Sachin) Tendulkar as the batting consultant for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025. There’s enough time between now and the second Test to consider it. Roping in consultants is quite common these days. Worth a thought?” Raman posted on his X account.
While the first Test begins on November 22, the second Test is scheduled to start on December 1, providing the BCCI almost three weeks to act on Raman’s suggestion if they decide to bring Tendulkar on board as a consultant.
