Team India Captain Rohit along with Jaiswal Begin Chase as India Need 147 Runs to Win

Ravindra Jadeja wasted no time on Day 3, quickly wrapping up New Zealand’s innings by dismissing Ajaz Patel, finishing with figures of 5/42 and completing a ten-wicket haul in the match. His third-best bowling figures in Test cricket helped bundle out the Kiwis for 174, setting India a target of 147 runs to win.

Jadeja, along with Ravichandran Ashwin, triggered a collapse on a sharply turning track at Wankhede Stadium. On Day 2, New Zealand had stumbled to 171/9 after Jadeja bowled Matt Henry for his fourth wicket jus” before stumps. The Indian spinners dominated the proceedings, giving the hosts control of the match.

Ajaz Patel, who had earlier taken five wickets in India’s first innings to restrict them to 263, was left stranded on seven runs as New Zealand could only manage a 146-run lead. Despite their earlier success in the series, winning the first two matches to secure their first-ever Test series win in India, New Zealand now faces the prospect of losing the final Test.

India will be confident heading into their chase, needing 147 runs to avoid a 3-0 series sweep at the hands of the visitors.
