Team India captain Rohit Sharma says he tried to convince Rahul Dravid to stay beyond the T20 World Cup

Only a day after the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team, Rahul Dravid, confirmed that the ongoing T20 World Cup was going to be his last assignment, the national team captain, Rohit Sharma, considered that he had tried to convince Dravid to stay.
Rohit said, “I tried convincing him to stay, but obviously there are a lot of things that he needs to look after as well. But yeah, I personally enjoyed my time with him.”
Looking back at his tenure as the captain alongside the word as the head coach of team India, Rohit shared that the experience of learning subtle leadership traits from his role model and his first captain of team India coincidentally in a game against Ireland was very fruitful.
Rohit further said, “He was my first international captain when I made my debut in Ireland, and I have seen him play while I was just coming into the team for test matches when he was kept in. He was such a big role model for all of us.”
Rohit also added, “Growing up, we watched him play, and we know what he has achieved personally as a player and also what he has done for the team over the years, battling out the team in difficult situations, and that is what he is known for.”
