After the amazing victory of team India over Australia in the first ODI match, they achieved the rare feat in history by becoming the number one team in ODI format. India are hitting their strides while heading into the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 at home as they climb to the summit of the MRF Tyres Men's ODI Team Rankings after their triumph over Australia.
The 116 rating points of Team India displaced their arch-rivals Pakistan, who are at 115 points at the top of the rankings after the win in the first ODI. Australia remains third, but the gap between the top two has now widened after they dropped two points to 111. As a result of the victory, Team India has occupied the number one spot in all the formats of cricket.
While talking about the match, India defeated Australia by five wickets in the first ODI to achieve this amazing feat. The five-wicket haul of Mohammed Shami was the highlight of their bowling innings after stand-in captain KL Rahul decided to field first.
While chasing the target star, Youngster and opener Shubman Gill, along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, scored a half century each and stitched an opening partnership of 142 runs. Despite losing a few quick wickets, half centuries from both Rahul and Surykumar Yadav took the team towards victory.
