Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as the standout performer for India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, leading the charge with exceptional bowling. After a commanding 295-run victory in the first Test in Perth, India faced a crushing 10-wicket defeat in the second Test in Adelaide. As Day 3 of the third Test at The Gabba concluded, Bumrah defended his struggling team, emphasizing that it is undergoing a transition and that he feels it is his responsibility to shoulder extra pressure due to his experience.
Despite India’s decision to bowl first—resulting in Australia posting a massive first-innings total of 445—Bumrah delivered an impressive performance, taking 6 wickets for 76 runs. However, India found themselves reeling at 51 for 4 on a rain-affected third day, raising concerns about their batting technique and overall performance.
Bumrah highlighted the challenges faced by newer players in adapting to Australian conditions, noting that several seamers, including Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep, were inexperienced in Test cricket on Australian soil. He stated, “As a bowling unit, we are in transition, so it’s my job to help the others.”
