The Australia cricket team became the third team after India and South Africa to qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 with a victory of three wickets over Afghanistan at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Team Australia chased down the target of 292 runs set by the Afghanistan Cricket Team with 19 balls to spare, and the credit for this goes to a stunning innings of 201 not out from Glenn Maxwell.
From 91 for 7, Maxwell and Captain Pat Cummins, not out, put up an unbeaten eighth-wicket partnership of 202 runs to take Australia over the line.
Team Australia took its tally to 12 points with six victories in eight matches. It is third on the points table, trailing behind South Africa only because of their inferior net run rate. India is at the top of the standings with eight wins in as many matches.
