Prior to the start of this competition, Afghanistan had only ever won one game at a men’s cricket World Cup. But since that lone success against Scotland in 2015, this fantastic generation of players has added two enormous victories. And perhaps even more amazing than defeating England in Delhi was Monday’s victory over Pakistan.
With their Pakistan hoodoo broken and their first multiple victories in a Cricket World Cup secured, Afghanistan can now turn their attention to a run to the semifinals, which will begin with their next game against Sri Lanka on October 30.
