The ICC announces Test Team of Year 2023, with no Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and only 2 Indians in the Pat Cummins-led side

Only two players from the Indian cricket team have been named in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year, led by Australia skipper Pat Cummins. India captain Rohit Sharma and superstar batter Virat Kohli could not find a place in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year.
The World Test Championship 2023 winning captain has been chosen to lead a strong contingent of players, which is dominated by five Australian superstars. Alongside Cummins, WTC Final centurion Travis Head, opener Usman Khawaja, wicketkeeper Alex Carey, and fast bowler Mitchell Starc have been named on the list.
Opener Usman Khawaja, the only player to pass 1,000 Test runs in 2023, walks into the Test side for a second successive year with 1,210 runs at an average of 52.60 and three centuries. Travis Head, Player of the Match in the WTC Final, and wicketkeeper Alex Carey are the other Australian players named in the team.
India spinner R Ashwin, the No. 1 bowler in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, and former England captain Joe Root, who are in the running for the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year award along with Khawaja and Head, are also in the team. England and India have two players each, with the selections of RavindraJadeja and Stuart Broad.
The opener of Sri Lanka, DimuthKarunaratne, partners Khawaja atop the order, with New Zealand star Kane Williamson claiming the number three batting spot, as five international teams have representation in the Test team.
