On Friday, the race for the prestigious Player of the Tournament award at the U19 Cricket World Cup is heating up, with three Indian players making it to the highly anticipated shortlist announced by the International Cricket Council.
Leading the Indian charge is captain Uday Saharan, whose batting prowess has blossomed throughout the tournament. His match-winning 81 in the semi-final against South Africa propelled India into the finals, showcasing his ability to adapt and deliver under pressure. His earlier century against Nepal further cemented his place in the spotlight.
Joining Saharan in the Player of the Tournament race is the left-arm spinner Saumy Pandey. His economical bowling has been a game-changer for India, boasting the best economy rate (2.44) among bowlers with over five wickets. His impressive three four-wicket hauls stand as a testament to his control and wicket-taking ability.
The third Indian contender is the versatile Musheer Khan, the only player in the tournament to have notched up two centuries. His stunning 131 against New Zealand showcased his explosive batting talent. Not only that, Khan has also contributed with his left-arm spin, taking crucial wickets to help India reach the knockout stage.
