The Indian cricket team defeated South Africa to register their first-ever Test win in Cape Town

The Indian cricket team snapped their win-less streak at the Newlands Cricket Ground with a historic first-ever Test victory against South Africa in Cape Town. Before this win, India's record in Cape Town was marred by defeats and draws, with their best outcomes being draws in 1993 and 2011. The team had never managed to secure a victory in the city, often finding themselves outplayed by South Africa. Before this win, India had drawn two Tests and lost three but never won a game at Cape Town.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team overcame a first-inning batting collapse to register a series-levelling 7-wicket win over South Africa in Cape Town. Aiden Markram's century for South Africa was overshadowed by the remarkable six-wicket haul of Jasprit Bumrah, which played a crucial role in dismantling the South African batting lineup for just 176 runs in their second inning. India's chase was set at a modest target of 79 runs to clinch the victory and level the series.

Despite the challenging pitch conditions at Newlands, which saw a record-breaking number of wickets fall on the first day, the batsmen of Team India managed to navigate the bowling attack of South Africa. The Indian bowling unit, particularly Mohammed Siraj with his career-best figures and Bumrah's consistent performance, proved too much for the South African team, which struggled to build significant partnerships.
