The Legend of Pakistan lashes out at other Pakistan players to defend Babar Azam
The World Cup-winning player Mushtaq Ahmed praised the underfire captain of Pakistan cricket team Babar Azam and said that he requires contributions from the rest of the players. He went on to ask that more respect be given to Babar Azam. Babar and the rest of the Pakistan cricket team were criticized by former players, experts, and fans for their poor performances in the T20 World Cup. However, Mushtaq Ahmed came to the defense of Babar, saying that he has increased his aggression.
Mushtaq said, "Babar's intent has definitely changed in the past year; he has shown aggression in his batting. If a person can improve so much, I think that's enough.”
He further added, “Other players also have a duty to score runs; they have a roll to play too. If one person gives us a core but the rest of our players do not go on to score in the remaining 7 to 8 overs, then there is a problem, and this has been happening for 3 to 4 years. Other players accept Babar Azam's only score when it does not make a significant impact.”
Mushtaq called for people to respect Babar more and not forget his contribution to Pakistani cricket. He said, “If we talk about barbers, there is a reason why people respect him worldwide; he brings honor to Pakistan. I think sometimes people are very hard on him.”
Currently, Babar Azam ranks among the top five ICC batsmen in all three formats, ODI, Test, and T20Is.
