The Pakistan cricket team defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets to rekindle their hopes in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Pakistan cricket team reignited their hopes of Cricket World Cup 2023 and eliminated Bangladesh with a seven-wicket victory in Kolkata.
The Babar Azam-led side moved to within two points of the top four with two games remaining after snapping a four-match losing streak and inflicting a sixth straight loss on second-bottom Bangladesh.

Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3 wickets while giving 23 runs, passing 100 ODI wickets, and Mohammad Wasim, who also took three wickets by giving 31 runs, polished off the lower order as Bangladesh were bowled out for 204—a total Pakistan surpassed with 106 deliveries to spare credit for, which mainly goes to the batting contribution of Fakhar Zaman's guiding them to the target of 205 runs at the loss of three wickets.

The world campaign for Team Bangladesh is over. And now they are aiming to finish high enough in the standings to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan face New Zealand and England in their final two fixtures, knowing they probably need to win both and for other results to go their way to make the semi-finals for the first time since 2011.
