To Become Australia’s White-Ball Captain Vs Pakistan, Josh Inglis Replaces Pat Cummins

Australian wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis has been appointed as the new captain for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan and will also lead the side in the final ODI of the series. Inglis takes over the captaincy from Pat Cummins, as several key players including Cummins, MarnusLabuschagne, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, are set to miss the final ODI to prepare for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India.

With Cummins focusing on the Test series and regular T20I skipper Mitch Marsh on paternity leave, the Australian selectors have placed their trust in Inglis to lead the side. Inglis has experience captaining at the domestic level and has shown his leadership qualities on and off the field. This marks his first stint as captain in international cricket.

"Josh is an integral member of both the ODI and T20I teams and is highly respected by his teammates," said George Bailey, chair of the national selection panel. "He has previously led Australia A and will bring strong tactical nous and a positive approach to this role."

Inglis will be joined by pace bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson, along with wicket-keeper batter Josh Phillipe, who have been added to the squad in the absence of key players.
