To enter IPL mega auction Shreyas Iyer “in discussions” with DC, ‘hurt’ Rishabh Pant
The Delhi Capitals (DC) are actively pursuing a replacement for Rishabh Pant, who has been with the team since 2016. With the ownership transition from JSW to GMR Group, DC has shifted its strategy and is not planning to retain Pant for the IPL 2025 mega auction. Iyer, who led DC to its only IPL final in 2020, is now back on their radar. This decision has reportedly left Pant feeling hurt, as he has built his career with DC, gaining recognition and making his mark in Indian cricket through the franchise.
Despite the disappointment, Pant is likely to find opportunities elsewhere, with teams like Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore seeking new captains. His experience and leadership capabilities make him an attractive option for these franchises.
