To go past idol Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli smashes 7th Test century in Australia

Virat Kohli made a triumphant return to form, scoring his maiden Test century of 2024 during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Perth. This remarkable innings not only marked his 30th Test century but also allowed him to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record of six Test centuries in Australia, bringing his total to seven.

Struggling with form and facing criticism, Kohli’s last international century came 375 days ago during the ODI World Cup semi-finals against New Zealand, where he achieved his 50th ODI ton. On Day 3 of the Test match, Kohli needed a significant performance to regain his rhythm, and he delivered with a solid knock that showcased his determination and skill.

His last Test century prior to this was against the West Indies in 2023. Now, after more than a year without a Test hundred, Kohli has reaffirmed his status as one of the modern greats of cricket. With nine centuries in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli continues to be a pivotal figure in Indian cricket, proving that he can rise to the occasion against formidable opponents.
