Sanju Samson has made history by becoming the first player to score three T20I centuries in a single calendar year, establishing himself as one of the most explosive batters in the format. His incredible run began on October 12, 2024, against Bangladesh in Hyderabad, where he smashed 111 off 47 balls, including 11 boundaries and 8 sixes, reaching his maiden T20I century in just 40 balls—the second-fastest by an Indian. Samson’s power-hitting dismantled the Bangladeshi bowlers.
He followed up this performance with another century against South Africa in the ongoing series, where he scored 107 off 50 balls, again showcasing his dominance. On November 15, 2024, in Johannesburg, he completed his third century, remaining unbeaten on 109 off 56 deliveries, hitting 6 boundaries and 9 sixes. With this, Samson became the first Indian and the second player globally to score two centuries in a single T20I series, joining England’s Phil Salt, who achieved this feat in 2023.
Tilak Varma added to the fireworks with his second T20I century in the same series. He scored an unbeaten 120 off 47 balls, smashing 9 sixes and 10 fours, helping India set a formidable target of 284 for South Africa to chase in their 20 overs.
