To win first home T20I series in five years, India Women thrash West Indies in decider

Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh led India to a 60-run victory over West Indies in the third Women’s T20I in Navi Mumbai on December 19, clinching the series 2-1. This win marked India’s first home T20I series victory in five years, with their last triumph occurring in September 2019 against South Africa.

Mandhana continued her impressive form, scoring her third consecutive T20I fifty with a total of 77 runs off 47 balls. She formed a solid partnership of 98 runs with Jemimah Rodrigues, who contributed 39 runs. Richa Ghosh then electrified the innings, smashing a joint-fastest fifty in Women’s T20Is off just 18 balls, finishing with 54 runs from 21 deliveries. India set a formidable target of 218, their highest team total.

In response, the West Indies struggled to chase down the massive target. Chinelle Henry provided some resistance with a quickfire 43 off 16 balls, but the team ultimately fell short, ending their innings at 157 for nine. Renuka Singh was instrumental in dismantling the West Indies batting lineup. The victory not only secured the series for India but also ended their long wait for a home T20I series win.
