Vaishnavi Sharma shines with hat-trick, 5 wickets on debut in U19 Women's T20 World Cup

Vaishnavi Sharma made history on January 21, 2025, by becoming the first Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup during India's match against Malaysia. In her debut, she delivered a stunning performance, claiming five wickets for just five runs in four overs, helping to bowl out Malaysia for a mere 31 runs at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Sharma's hat-trick was achieved in the 14th over of the innings, where she dismissed Nur Ain Binti Roslan, Nur Isma Dania, and Siti Nazwah in consecutive deliveries. This remarkable feat places her alongside South Africa's Madison Landsman, who was the first to achieve a hat-trick in the tournament's history back in 2023.

India chased down the target effortlessly, winning by ten wickets in just 2.5 overs, with Gongadi Trisha scoring an unbeaten 27 off 12 balls. Vaishnavi's exceptional debut not only highlighted her talent but also propelled India to the top of Group A with four points and a strong net run rate of +9.148
