Varun Nominated for the ICC Player of the Month of January
Varun Chakravarthy has been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for January 2025, recognizing his outstanding performance in T20Is against England. Throughout January, Chakravarthy took 12 wickets at an average of 9.41 and an economy rate of 7.01. His best performance was in Rajkot, where he claimed 5 wickets for 24 runs. His impressive performance has also boosted him to joint second in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowler rankings.
Chakravarthy faces competition from West Indies' Jomel Warrican and Pakistan's Noman Ali, both also spinners. Warrican had a strong showing in Pakistan, taking 19 wickets across two Tests and earning the Player of the Series award. Ali also had a noteworthy performance against the West Indies, taking 16 wickets, including a historic hat-trick, making him the first Pakistani spinner to achieve this feat in Test cricket.
The winner will be decided through a combination of votes from the ICC Voting Academy and fans.
