Wasim Akram confidently says after Kiwi whitewash, “Pakistan have a chance to beat India in Tests”

India and Pakistan haven’t faced off in a Test series since 2007, but recent events have reignited the conversation. India’s 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand at home has exposed their vulnerabilities, with the team being labeled “spin fearers” despite once being nearly unbeatable on home soil. Legendary Pakistan fast bowler WasimAkram believes that if a Test series were to take place between India and Pakistan now, Pakistan would have a good chance of winning, even on spinning tracks.

During commentary for the Australia vs. Pakistan 1st ODI, Akram discussed the prospect of an India-Pakistan Test series with former England captain Michael Vaughan. Vaughan expressed his desire to see the arch-rivals play a Test series, stating, “It will be massive. It will be good for the game, for two cricket-crazy nations.” Akram agreed and went a step further, claiming that Pakistan could beat India on turning wickets, a scenario once unimaginable given India’s dominance on spin-friendly tracks.

Referring to India’s recent defeat, Akram emphasized that Pakistan now stands a better chance, saying, “Pakistan have a chance to beat India in Tests on a spinning track. They have been hammered by New Zealand 3-0 at home.”
