The incident took place in the 16th over when both players converged on a high ball, resulting in a head-on clash that left Sams unconscious and requiring immediate medical attention.
Sams was stretchered off the field after showing signs of concussion, while Bancroft managed to walk off with a bloody nose. The match was halted for approximately 12 minutes as medical staff attended to the injured players. In an official statement, Sydney Thunder confirmed that both players were conscious and talking but exhibited symptoms of concussion and possible fractures. They were subsequently transported to the hospital for further assessment.
