On the IPL front, Kohli has been retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the next three editions. He will earn INR 21 crore, making him the joint second-costliest player on the retention list alongside Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants. Heinrich Klaasen tops the list, being retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 23 crore.
Last season, Kohli won the prestigious Orange Cap, scoring over 700 runs in 15 matches. However, in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, he has struggled for form, managing just 22 runs in the first four innings. With India trailing 0-2 in the series, Kohli’s role will be pivotal as the team gears up for five crucial red-ball games against Australia.
