On Friday, the new season of the Indian Premier League got underway with a grand opening ceremony at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Many Bollywood stars, like Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, AR Rahman, and Sonu Nigam, were the top performers. The event got underway with Akshay and Tiger entertaining the audience with some dance numbers. They also took a lap of the stadium on bikes. After their performance, AR Rahman and Sonu Nigam set the stage on fire with their musical talent.

Among other performers, Neeti Mohan and Mohit Chauhan were also present. Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff danced to hit numbers from their movies, which included songs like "Main Tera Hero" and Jai Jai Shiv Shankar.
The opening ceremony will be followed by the toss of the opening match of the tournament between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
On the eve of the IPL opener, CSK dropped a bombshell as the franchise announced that long-serving captain MS Dhoni had stepped down from his role. The five-time champions announced that opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the franchise in IPL 2024.
