Watch: Reaction of Virat Kohli to Umpire as Shreyas Iyer Gets Four From Byes

Once again, the never-ending reactions of Virat Kohli on the field made headlines in the match of the ongoing mega tournament on Sunday, November 5, in Match 37 of the World Cup 2023 between India and South Africa, taking place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

After deciding to bat against the Proteas, India lost both openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, inside 11 overs of the high-voltage contest. Even though Rohit gave the Men in Blue a fiery start, the onus was on Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer to build a solid partnership in the middle to get going.

However, a funny moment took place during their partnership in the 22nd over, and that caught a lot of attention out of nowhere.

Against Tabraiz Shamsi, Shreyas went for a risky paddle after shuffling across the crease. The Indian batter somehow managed to make a connection before the ball raced towards the boundary ropes. Shamsi was in disbelief, wondering how the ball missed the stumps. In the meantime, on-field umpire Paul Reiffel signalled four byes, which left Kohli in complete shock.

With his hands moving, the talismanic Indian batsman gestured that it was a boundary rather than a bye. A few moments later, while Quinton de Kock was in shock as well, Reiffel changed his decision and signalled a four.
