India’s Tilak Varma has made history by becoming the first player, male or female, to score centuries in three consecutive T20 innings. He achieved this remarkable feat during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 opener against Meghalaya, where he scored an impressive 151 runs off just 67 balls. Prior to this match, Tilak had back-to-back hundreds in South Africa, with scores of 107 not out in Centurion and 120 in Johannesburg.
Batting at No. 3 for Hyderabad, Tilak displayed explosive hitting, reaching his half-century in just 28 balls and his century in 51 deliveries. His innings included 14 fours and 10 sixes, contributing significantly to Hyderabad’s total of 248 for 4— their highest score in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the fifth-highest in the tournament’s history.
Tilak Varma also became the first Indian male cricketer to score over 150 runs in T20s, surpassing ShreyasIyer’s previous record of 147. As a testament to his talent, he was retained by Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, having played for them in the previous two seasons.
